Specifically, this funding which benefits the the Lawrence Family Development Charter School’s Summer Institute efforts, which support enrichment activities in June and July 2017. According to Ralph Carrero, Director/Superintendent, “We are delighted to receive this funding once again. The Greater Lawrence Summer Fund (GLSF) is instrumental each year for providing our charter school students with a fun, safe, and enriching experience!” For eighteen years and with support from Greater Lawrence Summer Fund (GLSF) of the Essex County Community Foundation, the Lawrence Family Development Summer Institute has productively serve dinner-city school-age youth (ages 5-14) from Lawrence. Some of the summer participants come from families falling below poverty guidelines, so this summer effort will provide a creative environment for these children and for their working parents.The target population for this funding is Lawrence Family Development Charter School’s student population which is comprised of 717 students inkindergarten through eighth grade.For the Summer Institute, 80 to 100 students will be involved in summer enrichment activities. The Lawrence Family Development, Inc. is among a small group of Greater Lawrence-based organizations selected for Greater Lawrence Summer Funding from the Essex County Community Foundation.
